Hey folks,
I suddenly thought of taking a picture of my toy guns. I'm thinking of including my gas gun (a KJ Works MK1) and the shell of my very first AEG, the disappointing Classic Army CA33 in this picture. But I changed my mind and decided to include these two some other time. Meanwhile, let me just post a picture of my four functioning AEGs.
From bottom to top:
1st gun - Tokyo Marui AK47 - My second AEG. I ordered this from Redwolf Airsoft. This gun saw action at Romont, Aigle, Froideville and of course, CEPTA. I decided to change the stock gears with the ones from my CA, replaced the spring guide with a metal one, fitted in a Systema spring and cylinder, changed the piston head with a ported one while keeping the stock Marui piston. Performs much better now than in stock form although the large battery it uses (a 9.6V Sanyo) can't fit into the stock, so you have part of the battery sticking out of the butt, with black tape wrapped around it to keep it from falling out. Nevertheless, I still find it reliable in the middle of a firefight.
2nd gun - Tokyo Marui AK47 - I bought this second-hand from a player based in Vaud. Re-sold it later to another player in Geneva and a year after, found myself buying it again (I recognized the markings on the gun). I haven't opened the gearbox to check the internals, but by the way it performs, it's definitely not in stock form. The seller installed a Spetznaz-type flash hider, making it look a bit longer (and meaner) than my first gun. The only thing I found funny was the selector switch - it doesn't make a very reassuring "click" whenever I move from "full auto" to "semi" and back. But like my first AK, I could say that it won't let you down.
3rd gun - Tokyo Marui AK47 - By this time you may be wondering why all my AEGs have been Kalashnikov-types. Well, I have read a lot of reviews stating that the AK is the most accurate AEG out-of-the-box. And after owning three of them (no, four in fact, as I have another AK in the Philippines, where it is being taken care of by my former ROTC classmate), I can confirm this "accuracy" observation. Besides, I like the "bad boy" image that goes with it ;D
Anyway, I installed the Inokatsu RPK kit (wood parts - stock and foregrip - plus the extended outer barrel and the attached bipod) on this thing, which I ordered from UNCompany upgraded (400FPS). Unfortunately, the plastic handgrip won't fit - I guess it's not designed for the TM AK receiver. So I just kept the Marui handguard in place. And no, I'm not planning to buy a metal receiver (as the saying goes, "it if ain't broke, don't fix it"). I later purchased a Hero Arms battery-powered AK drum mag (with a 3000-BB capacity) to go with it. It never fails to intimidate many an opponent (and that alone already gives me a lot of satisfaction). The only disadvantage is that enemy players always try to eliminate me first
4th gun - CYMA M-14 - my second non-Kalashnikov and non-Marui AEG. Powered-up to a velocity of 360FPS in stock form, I was quite impressed the moment I opened the box and held it. I felt funny at first when I pressed the butt against my shoulder and tried to aim at something because it felt so long (well it IS long!), but I guess I got used to the AKs. But after a few more tries, I found myself feeling comfortable with it. So the M14 finally saw action last Saturday, 25 October, at CEPTA. Although it may not seem to be as powerful as the RPK, the "pogi" points and its performance in stock form is making me think that Chinese-made AEGs are not all that bad (although one gun cannot make me change my biased position towards ACMs that easy). Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see. Team Ariana members T-Rex, Big Daddy, Ninja and I (yes, we all have CYMA M-14s, although Ninja has the SOCOM version) have some some SP130 springs, air-sealed nozzles and spring guides with bearings on hand and will, in the future, install them into these babies. Not to mention the scope mounts and of course, the scopes (I have a red dot while the rest have the sniper scopes).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time to show off your stuff, folks. No need to imitate my style and come up with long descriptions for your guns. Maybe you can just use this simple format:
1. PICTURE (if you don't know how to post a picture, you can just send it to me by e-mail and I'll do it for you - free of charge of course hehe).
2. GUN DESCRIPTION:
- Manufacturer/Name (e.g. Tokyo Marui/AK47)
- Velocity (in FPS)
- Magazine (low-cap or hi-cap - BB capacity)
- Etc. (anything else that you may want to add)
